Alexej Vorobjov and his team on stage today

Alexej's song Get You has been written by world-famous composer RedOne who composed songs for e.g. Lady Gaga, Nicole Scherzinger and Jennifer Lopez. On stage today, the Russians didn't change much from their rehearsal last Sunday, but it looked more polished today even.

Alexej Vorobjov has lots of Swedish help among the backing singers which gives the performance an extra touch. Vocally, the Russian team was immaculate today.

Clothes-wise, there were no changes compared to the first rehearsal, with Alexej still with a leather-jacket and black trousers on. However today, Alexej and his dancers had LED lights on their shoes as well.

Alex was relaxed backstage.

"We just have fun, we didn't change anything since the first rehearsal. But we created a different choreography from the national final," he explains.

The Swedish Britta Bergström is doing the backing vocals for the entry, together with Henrik Rongedal. She has a long experience of the song contests.

"I have been to Eurovision twice before, with Sweden in 2004 and Belgium in 2006. In the Swedish national selections, I've been a backing singer since 1996, when there was still a live orchestra."

Alexej and the press

Alexej Vorobjov explained that for an international audience, he has chosen the name Alex Sparrow. For Russia though, he would still use his original Russian name.

He jokingly said that he won't be able to go back to Russia if he doesn't make it through the Semi-Finals.

The Russian singer admitted that he has already partied a lot, but stressed that he had further rehearsals as well. He was a bit tired today, he confessed.

Alexej said that he tried to combined a modern sound with some more traditional sounds in the Eurovision version for his song.

About his collaboration with RedOne, the Russian hopeful disclosed that it was very creative and that it would be amazing to work with such an experienced producer.

The Eurovision Song Contest would be an important step in his life, especially as he wants to start a European career.

"Singing is the main part of my life", Aleksej Vorobjov explained.

The Russian singer got a T-shirt from one of the journalists present as a gift, and he immediately tried that on.

Alexej got some advice from Dima Bilan, the winner of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, who told him to have fun during the contest.

At the end of the press conference, Alexej performed a traditional Russian song.
