Tonight marked the most exciting stage of Unser Star für Baku, the German national selection. In Monday's semi-final, the public chose Roman Lob and Ornella de Santis as the ones fighting the final battle, and tonight, they, for the first time, presented potential Eurovision entries.
The panel jury, which included Stefan Raab, TV legend and one of the presenters of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, Alina Süggeler, lead singer of the band Frida Gold, and Thomas D, member of the hip-hop band Die Fantastischen Vier, commented on tonight's performances, but the decision who will represent Germany with which song was taken solely by the televoters.

In the show, which was presented by Sandra Rieß and Steven Gätjen, each candidate first sang three songs, out of which the public selected the best one, respectively. This was the initial line-up of songs (in order of appearance, finalist songs in bold):
- Roman Lob - Conflicted
- Ornella de Santis - Quietly (70%)
- Roman Lob - Alone
- Ornella de Santis - Alone
- Roman Lob - Standing Still (76%)
- Ornella de Santis - Standing Still
While the first songs were different for each candidate, they both sung Alone and Standing Still afterwards, but in different arrangements. After that, Roman and Ornella sang their super-final songs again, and the TV viewers then decided who would be the German representative. This is the final result:
- Ornella de Santis - Quietly (49.3%)
- Roman Lob - Standing Still (50.7%)
Thus, Roman Lob will represent Germany in the Final of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held on May 26th in Baku, with the song Standing Still, written by Jamie Cullum, Steve Robson and Wayne Hector. You can watch Roman's performance on eurovision.de.
