Roberto Bellarosa: "I believe in the power of my song"

26 March 2013 at 16:41 CET

"This is a new story for me"

Roberto Bellarosa is just 18 years old but has already got a lot of experience under his belt having won the talent show series The Voice Belgique. Now he is ready for his biggest challenge yet, representing Belgium at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö in May.

Above you can see the video interview we made with him, where he told us a lot about himself, his participation and some of his favourites, who include Alexander Rybak (Norway 2009), Loreen (Sweden 2012), Sandra Kim (Belgium 1986) and Céline Dion (Switzerland 1988). Curiously, all his favourites are previous winners of the Eurovision Song Contest. Could this be a sign of things to come?

Roberto is a modest fellow who believes that participating in Europe's favourite TV show is "a new story" for him. He also has a strong belief in his song and as he said to us, "I want to do as well as Sandra Kim". The boy really wants to win!

Belgium will this year participate in the first Semi-Final of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest on the 14th of May. Following Loreen's victory in Baku last year, the contest is being held in the Swedish city of Malmö.
