The first semi-final of the French national selection for Eurovision 2018 has taken place and saw four acts qualify for the final.

The first semi-final of 'Destination Eurovision', the French national selection for Eurovision 2018, has taken place in Paris. The first show saw four participants proceed to the final and the chance to represent France in Lisbon in May.

France is holding its biggest national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in nearly two decades. Destination Eurovision 2018 will see 18 artists compete for the right to represent France at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. The participants of the first semi-final:
  • Lisandro Cuxi - Eva
  • Malo - Ciao
  • Noée - L’un près de l’autre
  • Elha - J’ai cru Masoé - Paradis
  • Emmy Lyianna - OK ou KO
  • Louka - Mamma Mia
  • Enea - I’ll Be There
  • Pheno Men - Jamais sans toi
  • Masoé - Paradis

How was the result decided?

During the semi-finals the expert juries each have a 50% say in the result (50% from the Francophone panel and 50% from the international jury). Amir, who represented France in 2016, is a member of the Francophone jury. His sixth placing in Stockholm was the best result for France since 2002.

The next semi-final of Destination Eurovision will take place 20th January with the live final on Saturday 27th January. The shows will be broadcast on France2 as well as globally on TV5 Monde. Viewers from around the world can also follow the broadcasts on Facebook live.
