Broadcaster SRF has announced that it will be Remo Forrer flying the Swiss flag in Liverpool, at the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.

For the 21-year-old musician from Hemberg, getting the opportunity to represent his country at the world's biggest music contest is a dream come true:

"For a Swiss musician, there is nothing greater than the Eurovision Song Contest. For me, it's the music equivalent of the Champions League and an enormous honour."

Remo Forrer cemented his reputation as a singer and performer when he won the third series of The Voice of Switzerland in 2020. Since then, the singer has honed his craft with the release of 4 singles.

Citing Lewis Capaldi, Ed Sheeran and James Arthur as his idols, Remo, like all of us, has a fondness for catchy pop melodies. Though he started his path as a musician by picking up and mastering the accordion, nowadays he accompanies himself on the piano.

"Music means everything to me. It gives me strength and fills me with great satisfaction. It's with me all the time."

Remo Forrer's much anticipated song, Switzerland's entry to the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, will be revealed on Tuesday 7 March.

Remo and his song were chosen in a multi-stage process put together by the Swiss broadcaster. Musicians were invited to submit their songs, with each being assessed by both an international jury of 20 music industry professionals and a panel of 100 television viewers.

As with the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest, the vote from members of the public and the jury vote were each given a 50% weighting, with the scores ultimately going in favour of Remo Forrer and his song.

Remo is already looking forward to his journey to Liverpool, and all it's going to entail:

"The Eurovision Song Contest is the biggest music event there is, and I find it incredibly inspiring to be in a place where all the participants share the same passion for music."

Switzerland will perform in the First Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest in May.
