'What The Hell Just Happened?'... It's the United Kingdom's song for Basel, performed by Remember Monday!

On Friday 7 March, the BBC revealed the United Kingdom's entry to the 69th Eurovision Song Contest.

The group Remember Monday will perform What The Hell Just Happenned? in Basel, and the music video has premiered over on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel

The song chronicles the aftermath of a fun night out with friends, and is said to perfectly showcase the band’s humour, relatability and their signature harmonies; an upbeat pop track full of energy, excitement and drama.

Remember Monday say:

“'What The Hell Just Happened?' is exactly how we’re feeling right now! It’s all very surreal; our friendship goes so far back, and we definitely never imagined that we’d be doing anything like this. When you’re a kid and people ask you what you want to be when you grow up, an absolute classic is “I wanna be a pop star”, so the fact that we’re getting the chance to live that dream as three best friends is just wild. We’re going to be the first girlband to represent the UK since 1999, which feels like such a crazy honour. We’re going to bring loads of fun, energy and hopefully do something that you won’t have seen before on the Eurovision stage….We honestly can’t wait to experience this with all of the other incredible artists from around the world, and hopefully make everyone back at home feel proud! This is really the music World Cup and we’ll do our best to bring it home!”

The UK entry was written by the trio themselves, along with Thomas Stengaard, Julie Aagaard, Tom Hollings, Sam Brennan and Kes Kamara.

The group is made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele.

As well as their own brand of empowering pop, Remember Monday have become renowned for their viral melodies on social media. They’ve amassed over half a million loyal followers and 11.3 million likes on TikTok alone.

Remember Monday are no strangers to performing in front of live audiences. Friends since they met at school in 2013, they are regulars on the music festival circuit, and last year played their first sell-out tour across the UK.

In addition, the girls each have individual impressive musical theatre backgrounds, and prior to their decision to quit their day jobs and become full-time band members in 2023, they have appeared in musical theatre productions that include West End productions of Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera (Holly), Mary Poppins (Charlotte), and Matilda (Lauren), who also had a lead role in the nationwide tour of SIX The Musical.

To date, Remember Monday have released two EPs and 12 singles, with a focus on their epic three-way harmonies and clever, heartfelt and authentic songwriting. With growing radio, press and media support, the band received national radio play on Scott Mills’ Afternoon Show on BBC Radio 2 in 2024.

Remember Monday first hit British TV screens in 2019, when they reached the Quarter-Finals on The Voice UK. Their coach on the show, the Grammy, Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe winning singer and actress, Jennifer Hudson, continues to mentor and support the band, inviting them to perform on her US chat show last year, where they wowed the US audience.
