Portugal holds big Eurovision celebration

On the 23rd of November a show, dedicated to the 45 years of history of the Portuguese national selection Festival Da Canção, will be held in Lisbon.

According to the organisers, a group of fans plan to "make the night a victory celebration for those who represented the country abroad, but also the singers, the hosts and the musicians that have competed in the Portuguese national selection to the Eurovision Song Contest."

Several former participants confirmed already their participation and many others are expected to confirm in the next few days. The currently confirmed artists are:

  • Armando Gama (participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1983)
  • Rui Bandeira (participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1999)
  • Vânia Fernandes (participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008)
  • Teresa Radamanto (took part in the Portuguese national selection in 1998, 2007)
  • Rita Ribeiro (took part in the Portuguese national selection in interval act 1996)
  • Duarte Mendes (took part in the Portuguese national selection in 1970, 1972, 1973, participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975)
  • Eduardo Nascimento (participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1967)
  • Dina (participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1992)
  • Alexandra (took part in the Portuguese national selection in 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1985)
  • Teresa Miguel (Doce, participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981)
  • Isabel Angelino (took part in the Portuguese national selection in host 1996, 2006, 2007)
  • Isabel Wolmar (host of several took part in the Portuguese national selection in)
  • Eládio Clímaco (host of several took part in the Portuguese national selection in)
  • Artur Garcia (took part in the Portuguese national selection in, 1967)
  • Mila Ferreira (backing singer in 1980 and 1982)
  • Eva Danin (took part in the Portuguese national selection in 2009)
  • Nuno e Fábia (took part in the Portuguese national selection in 2009)
  • Pedro Madeira (Jparticipated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006)
  • Paco Bandeira (took part in the Portuguese national selection in 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1984)
  • Tonicha (participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971)
  • Sabrina (participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007)
  • Flor-de-lis (participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009) 

The show will be held in Teatro Tivoli, located in the city centre of Lisbon.
