'Festival da Canção' returns in 2025 and will be giving us Portugal's song for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Switzerland.

Portuguese broadcaster RTP has announced that its annual song competition Festival da Canção will once again be selecting the country's next entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The broadcaster opened song submissions at 16:00 CET on Wednesday 14 August, encouraging composers and artists to apply for consideration until the submission window closes, on Tuesday 15 October.

Festival da Canção 2025 will have 20 songs competing, performed by 20 artists.

14 of these artists will have been invited directly by RTP to participate, while the other 6 slots will be open to artists who have submitted songs via the broadcaster's online portal.

The 20 songs will compete across two semi-finals and one final.
