Poland: Violins and a piano

12 May 2008 at 13:42 CEST

The first country to rehearse this morning was Poland. The Polish representative Isis Gee performed in a short white dress and created a warm atmosphere with her soft voice. During the rehearsal, there had been problems with the sound, but of course this can still be improved in the second rehearsal. Overall, Isis gave a confident performance. The main colour of the background scenery was red, and smoke effects were used during the stage act.

Isis Gee was chosen to represent Poland in the First Semi-Final of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in a national final with twelve entries. She was the favourite in a combined vote of an expert jury and televoting. Her song For Life is dedicated to her husband, and she displayed her feelings both in her national final performance and in the official video clip of the song. Before her arrival in Belgrade, Isis Gee went on an extensive promotional tour all over Europe.

The Polish press conference was rescheduled - it took place early this evening. Isis Gee was seated next to her husband, and she confirmed that the song lyrics talk about him. When Isis was asked when she had been singing in public for the first time, she surprised everyone saying that she was only seven years old at that time and she had been singing a religious song in a church together with a nun. When Isis was asked about her promotional tour, she replied that she was overwhelmed by the warmth and friendliness of the people in all the countries she visited.
