Poland goes with Alicja Szemplińska for Eurovision 2020
23 February 2020 at 16:35 CETDuring the climax of Poland's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, the 3 finalists Albert Černý, Kasia Dereń and Alicja Szemplińska performed both a cover of a previous winning Eurovision song and their potential participating song for Rotterdam.
About Alicja
The 17-year-old Alicja Szemplińska comes from the Polish city of Ciechanów and rose to fame when she won The Voice of Poland in 2019.

The show
Alicja sang Euphoria by Loreen (Sweden 2012) and her own song Empires.

Kasia performed a cover of Lena's Satellite (Germany 2010) and the original song Count On Me.
Albert took on Alexander Rybak's Fairytale (Norway 2009) and performed the Lake Malawi song Lucy.
You might recognize Albert from Lake Malawi, last year's representatives for the Czech Republic! Even though Albert is Czech, he went to school in Poland and therefore has a strong connection to the country.
The vote
The outcome of Poland's national selection was decided for 50% by the Polish voting audience through televote, and for 50% by a jury.

The jury consisted of Anna Cyzowska-Andura, Grzegorz Urban and Konrad Smuga. In case of a tie, the jury vote would prevail. Former Polish Eurovision participants Cleo, Gromee and Michał Szpak were invited as guests.
