Paula and Ovi to represent Romania!

01 March 2014 at 23:07 CET

During the 150 minute LIVE broadcast from Theater Sică Alexandrescu in the city of Brasov, hosted by Nicolle Stănese and produced by Televiziunea Română, TV audiences across Romania and in other parts of Europe (due to the webcast on Eurovision.tv), could enjoy 12 amazing performances of the artists who were competing for the role of the representative at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen.

After all the glamorous and entertaining moments, the viewers and the jury had to deal with a very responsible, and bt no means easy task. But a decision was made: Paula and Ovi will have the honour to represent Romania in Denmark this year. They already took part at 2010 Eurovision Song Contest and managed to reach third place with 162 pointes that year. That was the best placement of Romania in their Eurovision history, together with another third place achieved in 2005 (Luminita Anghel & Sistem).

According to the scoreboard revealed some minutes before the end of the show, the greatest number of votes from the viewers were received for Mirela Vaida Boureanu (7.509). However, the jury gave the biggest support to Paula and Ovi. An hour after the show, TVR published the details about the jury votes as well: Paula and Ovi (12), Vizi Imre (10), Bere Gratis (8), tefan Stan & Teddy K (7), Renee Santana & Mike Diamondz (6), Anca Florescu (5), Vaida (4), The Zuralia Orchestra (3), The dAdA (2) and Naomy (1).

After all the songs have been presented TV viewers in Romania had an opportunity to support their favourite acts through televoting, but they could vote only once from one phone number. While waiting for the outcome of that 30 minutes long televoting, the members of the jury shared their votes as well.

TVR didn’t change any rules of voting system in the format they have for years. The final decision about the representative and a song is based on the outcome of televoting (50%) and the jury votes (50%).
