ORF: Host city decision 'late July, early August'

22 July 2014 at 18:06 CEST

Currently, there are three cities still in the running to host the next edition of Europe’s favourite TV show to be held in Austria.

"The discussions with the candidates in the last few days have been very constructive," Alexander Wrabetz, General Director of ORF underlined in a statement to the news agency APA. "We are still on schedule."

In the past three days, an ORF delegation had met with representatives of the three cities interested in hosting the contest: Graz, Innsbruck and Vienna. All candidates had presented concepts for the implementation of large-scale events.

ORF is set to consider the proposals in the coming days in detail and is targeting a decision for late July or early August.  "An informed decision based on all available information is a priority," Wrabetz stressed.

The host city decision will be taken in front of the governing body of the Eurovision Song Contest, the Reference Group, which has the final say.
