29 October 2008 at 01:26 CET

Everyone is invited to send in their song, HRT's Aleksandar Kostadinov  told Eurovision.tv. Out of those submitted songs, fourteen entries will qualify for the semi-final on the 27th of February.

Viewers will then pick six of those to enter the next day's final. They will be joined by 10 songs from the most played composers in the country according to the Croatian Composers Association.

The winner, who will represent Croatia at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow, Russia, will be chosen via a mixed voting system. 50% of the votes will come from televoters, 50% will be cast by a jury.

Both shows will be held in Opatija, a beautiful small town on the western coast of the country. The host of the Croatian national Eurovision Song Contest selection has a population of only 8,000, though the town's seaside is a popular tourist destination amongst Croatians ánd international guests.
