Apart from giving details about the final, NRK also disclosed 3 of the 4 cities that will host the semi-finals for the popular Melodi Grand Prix. They are as follows:
  • Ørland will host the 1st semi-final on January 8th, 2010
  • The city for the 2nd semi-final on January 16th, 2010 will be revealed at a later stage
  • Skien will host the 3rd semi-final on January 23rd, 2010
  • Sarpsborg will host the 4th semi-final on January 30th, 2010
Ørland is a small community on an island outside of Trondheim. The show will take place on the Nato base located there. Ørland is hosting a semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix for the first time. Sarpsborg is a city located ca. 1,5 hours by car from Oslo close to the Swedish border. Sarpsborg is also hosting a Melodi Grand Prix event for the first time. Skien, on the other hand, has already hosted a Melodi Grand Prix semi-final last year.
Norway won the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with Alexander Rybak's Fairytale and will host the 2010 edition of Europe's favourite music competition in May 2010.
