Serbia in Eurovision

Serbia was part of Yugoslavia when it debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961. After the separation of the country, Serbia and Montenegro participated in 2004 and 2005 before the two now independent states split in 2006. This meant that they did not compete that year, however they did vote and promised to return in 2007 with a big song. They lived up to that promise as Marija Šerifović won the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest for Serbia at the first attempt with Molitva.

Since then, their best result came in 2012 when Željko Joksimović followed his second place finish in 2004 with a third place in 2012. Last year, Sanja Ilić & Balkanika reached 19th place in the Grand Final with Nova Deca.
