This weekend sees national selection shows taking place in more than 10 countries! Italy and Denmark will select their entries for Eurovision 2018 whilst other national selection heats will be broadcast around Europe!

Friday sees the first show of San Marino's national selection take place. In the first two shows, the candidates will perform acoustic versions of their songs, and the judges will provide feedback. At the end of the second show, the judges will pick one song for each candidate, of which the candidates will perform a fully produced version in the final on 3rd March.

The 2018 edition of the Italian Song Contest, 'Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo', or as it is widely known, 'Sanremo', takes place this week. The show began on Tuesday 6th February and the final will take place on Saturday 10th February. The winner will be given the opportunity to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest. Read more.

The Danish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, will also take place on Saturday night. Speaking of Saturday night, one of the participating artists, Sannie, better known internationally as Whigfield, had a huge hit in 1994 with the song Saturday Night. Check out the participants.

The first semi-final of the Ukrainian national selection for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest takes place on Saturday 10th February. You can watch the show live from 18:00 CET. The jury this year will consist of Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala, artist and composer Adrii Danylko otherwise known as Verka Serduchka, and Yevhen Filatov, sound producer of the band ONUKA - interval act of the Grand Final in Kyiv in 2017.
