Mor Ve Otesi sings Deli in Belgrade

TRT the Turkish broadcaster invited Mor Ve Ötesi to be the Turkish representative in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, this invitation was duly accepted by the band, and their participation in Belgrade was confirmed in December 2007.

During January,  three songs were recorded in the studio for submission to a special jury comprising TRT officials as well as Turkish music professionals. From these songs, Deli was confirmed as the jury's choice earlier today.   

 Mor ve Ötesi, which literally translates as Violet and Beyond are a four man band made up of Kerem Kabadayi, Kerem Özyeğen, Burak Güven and Harun Tekin.

The band was  formed back in 1995, two of the personnel are different from the original line up. They have enjoyed a twelve year career which has seen five albums released  from 1996 to 2006. In addition to this, the band has had no fewer than fifteen sell out concerts outside of Turkey, these being primarily in Germany and the Netherlands.

Previous material recorded has included songs about political problems and personal problems the band members have encountered in their own lives.

The chosen song Deli is an uptempo rock song. Mor Ve Ötesi will participate in the Second Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade on Thursday 22nd of May.
