Montenegro picks Stefan Filipovic' for Serbia

"First things first," must have been the motto of this year’s MontenegroSong, the festival to choose the entry representing Montenegro in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest. Thus, the TV viewers taking part in the televote tonight only decided which singer would be most suitable to represent the country in Belgrade, without knowing which song they would sing on that occasion. This question will be dealt with only in the second round of the project, which is to be carried out behind closed doors by a jury. Once the experts have made up their minds, their decision will be announced in another TV show, where the song will be presented for the first time in public.

The televoting results

  1. Stefan Filipović - 3325 votes
  2. Andrea Demirović - 1300 votes
  3. Knez (Nenad Knežević) - 567 votes
  4. Jelena Kažanegra - 377 votes
  5. Grim – 345 votes
  6. Kaja (Vesna Milačić) - 341 votes

All six applicants are well-known in their home country, and everyone had already taken part in at least one national final for previous Eurovision Song Contests. During the show, all singers presented one of their greatest hits. Apart from that, Ruslan Alehno, the Belarusian representative for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, also presented his song Hasta La Vista to the public. In the end, the public decided that the presentation of Stefan Filipović was the most convincing one. His song for the 2008 Eurovision Song will be premiered on RTCG soon - stay tuned!
