Montenegro 2025: Your guide to 'Montesong'
26 November 2024 at 16:15 CETHOW TO WATCH: 'Montesong' is taking place on Wednesday 27 November, with a start time of 20:00 CET. The show will be airing live on TVCG1 (and its online player) in Montenegro, while international fans can tune into a live stream via the official 'Montesong' YouTube channel.
It's time for our very first national final for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest. And if you're approaching the 2025 season as though it's something of a pre-selection Pokémon (gotta watch 'em all!), then here's where it all starts. In Podgorica, to be specific.
The Montenegrin capital will play host to the inaugural edition of Montesong, which itself heralds the return of the Balkan nation to the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time since Turin 2022.
After a submission and evaluation round, 16 songs have been selected to take part in Montesong, with the winner earning the honour of representing Montenegro at its Eurovision return.
On the night, the result will be decided by a public vote (via SMS, with a one-vote-per-person rule in place) and a jury vote (with 7 members in place). Both votes will be responsible for 50% of the final score. And in the event of a tie, it's the jury that will have the deciding vote.
Ahead of the live broadcast on Wednesday, you can already take a listen to all 16 competing entries.
These are the songs in the running to represent Montenegro in Basel; in the order that they'll be performed in on the night:
ANASTASIJA KOPROLČEC - Kraj

NEMANJA PETROVIĆ - Među Zvijezdama

TAMARA ŽIVKOVIĆ - Poguban Let

Basel 2025 will be Montenegro's 13th participation at the Eurovision Song Contest since its debut appearance at Helsinki 2007. Prior to that, it had competed as part of Serbia & Montenegro in 2004 and 2005.
Since its first participation in 2007, Montenegro has qualified to the Grand Final twice, with its highest placing being 13th in 2015, courtesy of the song Adio, performed by Knez.
