14 March 2015 at 23:45 CET

What a show! This year NRK decided to throw all its apples into one bucket with one spectacular broadcast from the Oslo Spektrum Arena. The venue that played host to the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest, also commerated the 60 years of the competition with many tributes during the night.

However, all the festivities boiled down to one decisive question... Who will represent Norway at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna? That's right, it was Mørland & Debrah Scarlett with the song A Monster Like Me!

Celebrating 60 years

This year at Melodi Grand Prix, NRK put a lot of emphasis on the history of the competition, as not only is it 60 years since the first ever Eurovision Song Contest took place, it is also 30 years since Bobbysocks won in 1985 with the song La det swinge and 20 years since Secret Garden won with Nocturne in 1995! We wanted to join in all the festivities so asked some of the artists what their favourite Eurovision Song Contest songs are. See what they said below:

Orchestral success

One of the highlights of this year's Melodi Grand Prix was the return of the orchestra, or to be more precise Kringkastingsorkesteret (KORK). They played throughout tonight's show and accompanied 6 of the 11 participating songs. Is this a prelude to having them return again next year? Only time will tell!

The first time I heard the Orchestra in my ear I almost couldn't sing! - Debrah Scarlett

Some Statistics

This year 450 had accreditation to Melodi Grand Prix, including 143 dancers and choristers, including a choir of 60 children; the 54 strong orchestra, and a crew of approximately 140 working behind the scenes. In addition there were the artists, management, press and other involved parties. NRK also decided to drop the Eurovision Song Contest rule of a maximum of six persons being on stage during a performance.
