Mikko and Jaana are back!

 Mikko has been appointed to announce the results of the Finnish televote in the final of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday, the 24th of May. The Finnish results will be announced from last year’s host city Helsinki. Jaana will be one of YLE TV2’s on-the-spot commentators for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade. This year it’s going to be her third time as commentator. In this job she will be joined by Mikko Peltola (host of the Finnish national selection 2008) and Asko Murtomäki, who returns for the eighth year in a row to provide commentary on the Eurovision semi-finals and final. In addition YLE TV2 will provide in-depth coverage of the Eurovision in Belgrade to keep the Finnish viewers up to date with the latest news. Daily reports will be presented by Jaana Pelkonen and Mikko Peltola. 

Mikko Leppilampi, born 1978, is a Finnish actor and a singer. He was accepted to the Theatre Academy of Finland in year 2000. In 2003, Mikko landed his first leading role in a major Finnish motion picture Pigs and Pearls, directed by Perttu Leppä. That role brought Mikko a Finnish Film Academy Award for Best Male Actor in 2004. Since then he has been working constantly in Finnish film, TV and theatre. In 2006, Mikko released his first solo album as a recording artist. 

Jaana Pelkonen, born 1977, is well-known to Finnish audiences as the presenter of numerous TV shows, events and occasions. Earlier this year she hosted Finland’s national selection for the fourth time in succession. Twice before (in 2005 and 2006) she has been YLE’s on-the-spot commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest and once (in 2007) for the Eurovision Dance Contest. Recently, Jaana received her Master’s degree in Social Sciences (University of Helsinki) and is currently working as a personal assistant to MP, Finland’s Minister of Communications Suvi Lindén.
