Vocal group OG3NE will represent The Netherlands in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. The three sisters will perform 'Lights and Shadows' in Kyiv, a very personal song written by their father and inspired by their mother.

OG3NE is made up of three sisters: Lisa (22) and twins Amy and Shelley (21). The name OG3NE represents their mother's blood type O and the genes that tie the three sisters together. In 2014 they were the world's first ever group to win The Voice but their story began in 2007 when they represented The Netherlands in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. "We started off as kids and that was the very beginning of our singing career", said Lisa. "It is such an honour to be here and representing The Netherlands again", she added.

The very personal and harmonious Lights and Shadows is a musical tribute to their mother, who has been ill for a number of years. It was written by their father Rick, to inspire those whose families are disrupted by illness. As Shelley explains; "We wanted to send a positive message to people who are sick, or to people who know someone who is sick, to give them some strength".

When asked if they have a favourite line from their song, they reply that the most poignant part is at the start with the lyrics: Though the hallway catches light, it won’t reach the corner where you strongly fight. Anyone who has been through a serious illness with a loved one will undoubtedly identify with the sentiment.

OG3NE's success creates valuable moments of happiness for the close musical family. "We will do everything in our power to make our country proud. We want to see a proud smile on our mother's face too. This is our way to say thank you for everything she has given us and to express what she means to us."
