Freimanis died in a hospital in Riga, capital of Latvia, after complications of an influenza infection.
Considered to be one of the most popular artists in his native Latvia, he worked as a singer, songwriter and an actor. He also released a collection of poems.
He was one of the members of the trio F.L.Y. who represented the Baltic country on home soil in 2003 with the song Hello From Mars.
He also wrote the 2005 Latvian entry - The War Is Not Over - by Walters / Kazha and took part in the Latvian national selection for Europe's favourite TV-show several times after that. His last entry is from this year's selection, Hop, performed by Blitze.
The public of Latvia is deeply shocked by the recent events and people have come on streets to commemorate the death of their beloved artist, the portal Delfi.lv reports.
