Marina Satti's P.O.P. summer
25 July 2024 at 14:40 CESTAt the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Marina Satti took Greece to the Grand Final. Her song ZARI ended up in 11th place with 126 points. And the left-side of the scoreboard finish gave Greece its third-best Eurovision result of the past decade.
The Grand Final performance of ZARI took just 19 hours to hit 1 million views on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel, and currently stands at over 8 million plays (along with 4.8 million views for the Semi-Final performance).
After she'd made it back to Athens from Malmö, however, Marina Satti wasted absolutely no time in getting back to work. With lots of new eyes (and ears) on her, she was all good to go with some brand-new music for all those brand-new fans of hers.
On 14 May, just three days after she'd performed ZARI at the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, our Greek girl-bop merchant dropped her new EP, titled P.O.P.
The 7-track opa opa opus featured her Eurovision banger ZARI, an earlier hit TUCUTUM, plus 5 new tunes, including a 10-minute diss track MIXTAPE, on which she got to call out her neigh sayers... Individually, in some cases!
And as well as going to number 1 on both Apple and Spotify in Greece, the collection of Satti songs also ended up making impressive waves outside of her homeland, too. On the week of its release, streaming giant Spotify named P.O.P. as one of the most listened to new albums around the world, placing it in the Top 10 globally.
Next up was the release of the music video for ZARI's follow-up single - LALALALA. Released the same week as the EP, LALALALA went straight to number 1 on Spotify Greece.
And it was a chart takeover for our Hellenic heroine, with MIXTAPE right behind it at 2 and ZARI still hanging around at number 3.
The new single became Marina's second number 1 in Greece after ZARI, and the success of the EP also put Marina herself at number 1 on Spotify Greece's ranking of the most listened to artists that week.
LALALALA would go on to be certified Platinum for sales and streams in Greece, along with two other songs from the P.O.P. EP, MIXTAPE and TUCUTUM.
Her Eurovision smash ZARI, meanwhile, has gone on to be awarded an even higher certification - achieving Diamond status in mid July.
To date, ZARI has racked up streams of over 26 million globally on Spotify. Over on YouTube, the combined views of ZARI on the official channels of both Marina Satti and the Eurovision Song Contest currently stand at over 34 million.
Páme, put your hands up!
At the beginning of June, Marina Satti gave her hoards of new international fans what they'd been waiting for, and announced the P.O.P. tour. Currently incorporating almost 40 dates, it is taking in Greece, much of Europe, and is making two stops in the US.
It's also been earning some rave reviews at home, too, with the Greek City Times writing of her Athens date that it was "not just a musical event, but a testament to her evolving artistry and growing influence in the Greek music scene."
While playing dates in Greece in June, Marina found the time to make a guest appearance at the national MAD Video Music Awards. There, she performed the ballad Ah THALASSA, as well as a brand-new remix of her number 1 single LALALALA featuring OGE.
Marina also found herself at the receiving end of the prizes being dished out, too; at the ceremony she picked up the award for Best Pop Artist.
Marina Satti's latest release came in the middle of July; the music video for her new single Ah THALASSA.
For the video, the artist has partnered with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to raise awareness of a refugee crisis that has seen 30,000 people perish while attempting to cross the Mediterranean in the past decade alone.
Marina and her label Madhouse Records will be donating all profit from the release of the evocative and powerful video to UNHCR. The music video is also dedicated to Marina's late father, who passed away earlier in 2024.
We're already looking forward to seeing what's going to come next for Marina; this summer and beyond.
And with new dates rumoured to be added to her extensive P.O.P. tour in the future, there's a good chance you might be able to go out and see her live, too.
Greece's Eurovision Song Contest history got a new star in Satti this summer!
