Maria Adelaide Fernandes Guinot Moreno started her career in the late 1960s and came third in 1981 at the Festival da Cançao, the Portugese national selection for Eurovision. In 1984 she participated again and won the competition. She then went on to perform Silêncio e Tanta Gente at the Eurovision Song Contest in Luxembourg, finishing 11th. Our thoughts go out to Maria's loved ones.
