Måneskin have teamed up with the ‘Godfather of Punk’ Iggy Pop to rework their hit song ‘I Wanna Be Your Slave’.
The new track is available to purchase on limited edition vinyl.
The band issued the following statement:
‘It was such an honour that he loved our music and wanted to work with us. It was touching seeing him sing I Wanna Be Your Slave live in front of us, it was very powerful to see such a big artist being so open and friendly. We all grew up listening to his music and he inspired us to starting up a band, it’s still unbelievable for us that we had the chance to get to know him and make music together.’
The Stooges frontman simply added: 'Måneskin gave me a big hot buzz’.
The new version of I Wanna Be You Slave follows the release of the official music video, which has notched up an impressive 26 million views in under three weeks.
Måneskin join an illustrious group of artists to have collaborated with Iggy, which includes David Bowie, Peaches, Debbie Harry, Kate Pierson (of The B-52s), Green Day and, of course, Israel’s Eurovision 1983 runner-up Ofra Haza.
The Italian alt-rockers became the first Eurovision winners to reach the Top 10 of the UK chart for nearly a decade, and have scaled the Top 3 in Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania and Norway.
They’ve also cracked the United States Billboard Chart alongside fellow Eurovision winner Duncan Laurence.
