Melodifestivalen, the Swedish national selection, is always the last one to be closed for the season. This always leaves Sweden with only the live performance from the national selection to show in the official preview videos. But nevertheless, there is always an official video produced as well for the winning Swedish entry.
The official video for Malena Ernmans 2009 entry La Voix shows the mezzo-soprano singer traveling from her occupation at the Royal Swedish Opera to her other employment in Frankfurt, where she stars in the opera La Cenerentola.
“It’s my first and only popvideo!” Ernman states via her own website. “We really didn’t have any time as I was commuting back and forth to La Cenerentola at Oper Frankfurt, making a documentary for Swedish TV and also recording a classical CD with Stockholm Sinfonietta.”
So the team chose to cast the video in a documentary style, with a single camera man accompanying Ernman from Stockholm to Frankfurt with a small pocket-size camera. Here is the result.
