Mahmood has completed his first rehearsal of 'Soldi'. He is the first of the 6 pre-qualified finalists to complete their rehearsal as he carries the hopes of Italy at this year's competition. The 'Sanremo Festival' winner performs with 3 dancers for his rendition of the song in Italian and Arabic.

Mahmood will take to the stage in the Grand Final of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel. A draw on Sunday will determine whether he performs in the first or second half of the show. Mahmood's starting position will be announced after the second Semi-Final on Thursday night.

Mahmood burst onto the Italian music scene when the title track of his debut album Gioventù Bruciata won 'Sanremo Giovani 2018'. He entered the main competition this year and in February, he was declared winner with Soldi written and produced with Dardust and Charlie Charles. The song became a smash hit and topped the Italian charts including airplay, the official singles chart, iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and even charting in the Spotify Global Top 50. In March, Mahmood released his full Gioventù Bruciata album, which debuted at number 1 in the FIMI/GFK Albums Chart.

What happens on stage?

Mahmood stands in front of blue triangular LED screen shapes and spotlights shine out from under the stage into the audience. He has 3 dancers on stage with him that interact with the screen as an image of the Italian singer shatters.

The screen shows the English translation of Mahmood's Italian lyrics. This is a theme that carries over from Italy's Eurovision 2018 staging. Mahmood is wearing a patterned silk short-sleeved shirt with a peacock printed on it. Underneath, he has a beige turtle-neck long sleeve and black trousers, a chain and trainers.
