Lithuania: What happened in the 6th show

The Eurovision marathon in Lithuania continues and in tonight's (sixth show) three contestants were eliminated. Which means, five artists advanced in the competition and will perform again in the eighth round of LRT's "Eurovizija", together with five qualifiers from the seventh show, scheduled for the next week.

The sixth show of Lithuanian national selection "Eurovizija" (out of ten) was aired on 13th of February, and it featured eight performances of the qualifiers from the fourth round of this year's competition). The contestants who performed in LRT's first shows were the artists who applied with a song for the national selection.

Eight acts were performed in the following order:

Like in the previous shows, the acts which received the least support from the jury members and TV viewers across the country were eliminated, except this time three artists had left the show instead of two.

*The results are based on jury votes (Lithuanian and international) and a public televoting (50/50).

The national jury in the sixth show consisted of Ramūnas Zilnys, Darius Užkuraitis, Valdas Burnys and Nomeda Kazlaus. The international experts who shared their votes in tonight's show were: Karlis Auzans (Latvian composer), Peter Freudenthaler (a member of the German band Fools Garden), Daisy Syron (British vocalist).

Even though there are few more rounds of LRT's Eurovision marathon left before the final, some favourites of the jury and TV viewers are more than clear. Donny Montell seems to be one of them. Still, the national jury panel would like to see some improvements in his performance.

The song I’ve Been Waiting For This Night, I've had in my head for nearly one year. And if jury tells me, I must do this and that, I could answer this way. Be sure, I have written a detailed strategy and I’ll show that. To be honest, my dream is not to show all the cards at the Lithuanian final and to hold the secret till the Eurovision Song Contest, but of course, the most important thing is to win at home first. So, we'll see, said Donny Montell in an interview for Eurovision.tv, which will be published in the following days.

10 shows, 27 acts, one ticket to Sweden

On December 21, 2015, LRT announced the names of 28 artists selected for this year's selection in Lithuania. Among the contestants, there are some well-known Eurovision faces. Erica Jennings represented Lithuania in 2001 (as a member of the group SKAMP), and Donny Montell, who took part in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

In the meantime, the Lithuanian public broadcaster confirmed that there will be 27 acts competing for the role of a Lithuanian representative in Stockholm at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

There are ten rounds of the competition this year. The final of Lithuanian "Eurovizija" is scheduled for 12th of March at 20:00 CET. It will also be broadcasted live via webcast on Eurovision.tv.
