Lithuania reveal preliminary details for 2011

25 November 2010 at 23:01 CET

The deadline for submission of entries to LRT will be January 3rd 2011. After this date, depending on the number of entries received, the first semi final shows could begin as early as the last week of January. If there is lower interest then the semi finals shows are likely to be at the beginning of February. The semi finals shows will be pre recorded, and it is proposed at this stage will be broadcast on Saturday evenings.

According to LRT the national selection will reach it's climax with the final show being screened at a date to be advised in the last week of February. There will be some slight changes to the voting procedure. The rules in the semi finals will be split evenly between juries and the televoting public of Lithuania. In the event of a tie where any acts are level on the same number of points, the winner of the tie will be the act who receives the most points from the jury vote.

Voting changes in final show

This system will continue until the final. There will be a super final within the final where the top three songs qualify. The three lucky acts will then perform their songs again and the winner will be decided by a jury vote only. This is anticipated to be a panel of 15 people. This change is designed to make the outcome fairer as there have been reported problems in the past with mass televoting of certain acts through purchase of multiple SIM cards.

There will be more confirmed news in the early part of 2011 and we will bring you dates as soon as they have been announced. Lithuania failed to make the Final of Europe's Favourite TV Show in 2010. InCulto finished in 12th place in the Second-Semi Final in Oslo with Eastern European Funk.

Lithuania's most successful result to date in the Eurovision Song Contest was back in Athens in 2006 where LT United finished in a very respectable 6th place with their anthem We Are The Winners.
