17 May 2008 at 14:33 CEST

Kalemegdan is a hilltop fortress overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. It is one of the most beautiful natural lookouts in Belgrade. Last night's concert was held in the grounds immediately below the fortress.

The open air concert was heavily attended by a very enthusiastic and energetic crowd. A special fenced off area for all accredited press and guests was directly in front of the stage. Thousands more people were watching from outside of the perimeter fence, with even more watching from the walls of the fortress upon the hill. The show was also fully televised for Serbian Television.

Performers in general sang four or five songs. The artists who participated in the concert were last years Serbian winner Marija Šerifović, Laka from Bosnia&Herzegovina, Željko Joksimović from Serbia, Slovenia's Rebeka Dremelj, 1998 Israeli winner Dana International, 2004 Ukrainian winner Ruslana, and Azerbaijan's debutants Elnur & Samir. There were also performances from national dancers throughout the show in intervals.

Other performers attended the concert, although not performing themselves. These included Euroband from Iceland, Ruslan Alehno from Belarus, Hind from The Netherlands and Philip Kirkorov from Russia, who had a lengthy chat and reunion with Dana International.

Eurovision.tv obtained special backstage access to the show, watch out for our special video later today including interviews and anecdotes from many of the stars who performed.
