Latvian broadcaster LTV has revealed that its national final 'Supernova' will be returning as the Baltic nation's Eurovision pre-selection for Switzerland 2025.

After the 2024 Eurovision Grand Final in May, the Latvian delegation will have returned home no doubt feeling content with the terrific feat achieved by its song for Malmö, Hollow by Dons.

The rousing ballad gave Latvia its best result since 2016, while also ending up as Latvia's 7th-best Eurovision result of all time. On top of that, 2024 was the first time Latvia had qualified to the Grand Final since 2016.

And there were plenty of people at home tuning in to see all of this happen, too... Latvia had the largest audience watching Eurovision in nearly a decade, with 252,000 viewers; more than quadrupling 2023’s performance. The viewing share in Latvia was 61.8%, the highest for the Eurovision Song Contest since 2007.

It's little wonder then, that the format used for selecting Latvia's entry for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest - Supernova - will be returning to do its thing once more for next year's 69th Contest.

And as well as making a comeback in 2025, the Latvian national final will also be celebrating the 10th anniversary since its inception in 2015.

LTV has announced that the window for song submissions will open on 20 August. So any artists and composers wishing to pitch their tunes for Supernova 2025, can do so (and read all of the accompanying terms and conditions) right here

A jury will sift through the songs, with the panel made up of experts from the Latvian music, television and events industries, as well as some international music professionals, too.

In November, LTV will announce the lineup of entries selected to compete in Supernova 2025, which the broadcaster has confirmed will be coming to us live in February.

Dons himself has encouraged his contemporaries to take the plunge and submit their songs to Supernova 2025:

"I invite every author and performer to apply for the competition to get on what is probably the world's biggest stage; to do it with love, and with Latvia in your heart! Go ahead! We can, we just have to do it!"

At Malmö 2024, Latvia finished in 16th place in the Grand Final, with a total of 64 points being awarded to the song Hollow performed by Dons.
