Latvia goes Supernova for 2015

LTV are searching for songs that will not only appeal to Latvians, but also to the population across Europe. They are looking to find the ideal combination of composers and artists for 2015, and the objective of this new competition is to find a song that will be able to excite millions of people around the world to sing to.

Soloists, as well as groups of up to six members, are welcome to apply for Supernova 2015. Composers who which to submit entries must not have had the song published of played before. 

Authors and performers will be judged by a specially formed jury, comprised of members of music industry professionals from Latvia and abroad. The deadline to enter is Wednesday the 10th of December, and submissions can be made via  Supernova 2015 webpage.

There will be three semi-final shows on the 2nd, 8th and the 15th of February, while the final of Supernova 2015 will be held on Sunday the 22nd of February, when a jury and the television audience will select the winner by a 50/50 voting mix from the four finalists.

LTV will be hoping this change of format will bring a change in the fortunes of Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest, as the country hasn't reached the Grand Final since 2008, when Pirates of the Sea reached 12th place with Wolves Of The Sea.

In 2014 Aarzemnieki with the song Cake To Bake finished in13th place in the First Semi-Final.
