According to LTV's site, original songs can be submitted until the next 6th of December when a comitee of experts will decide those that get through the semi-finals. The twenty chosen ones will be announced on the 14th of December.

There will be four televised shows, every saturday of February 2011. The semi-finals will take place on the 5th and 12th of February with ten songs each. Five from each heat will proceed to the final; three of these will be chosen by televote and two others by the expert jury.

New for next year is an additional round on the 19th of February, when the ten eliminated songs will be given a second chance to proceed to the final: one to be picked by the jury and the other by televoting.

The final will be broadcast live from the Ventspils Theatre House on the 26th of February. Out of the twelve finalist songs, three will proceed to a "Superfinal". TV-viewers and the expert jury on a 50/50 basis will decide these three and then, the eventual winner who will represent Latvia in Dusseldorf.

Latvia failed to reach the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest in the last two occasions. They managed it for the last time in 2008 in Belgrade when Wolves Of The Sea by the Pirates Of The Sea placed 12th.
