Katarsis wins 'EUROVIZIJA.LT' in Lithuania and will head to Basel
16 February 2025 at 00:29 CETOn Saturday 15 February, after 5 weeks of semi-finals, Lithuania held the grand final of its Eurovision pre-selection EUROVIZIJA.LT.
With a huge lead in the final vote, it's the song Tavo Akys that Lithuania has claimed as its winner, performed by the band Katarsis.
12 songs competed in the final of EUROVIZIJA.LT. After all of them had been performed, scoring was done via both a jury vote and a public vote, with a 50% weighting given to each. These initial points determined a Top 3 to progress to a 'superfinal', after which voting will open again.
The three superfinalists were Tavo Akys (by Katarsis) Ar Mylėtum (performed by Liepa) and Drobė (by Lion Ceccah).
For the superfinal, it was solely the Lithuanian viewers watching at home that got to select their winner - and the song that gets to represent them at Basel in May. With a televote of 9,374, it was a clear win for Tavo Akys performed by Katarsis. The song in second place (Drobė) picked up 3,828 votes in comparison.

Through their evocative sound and powerful performances, Katarsis continues to push artistic boundaries, delivering music that resonates deeply with their listeners.
Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest
Lithuania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with singer Ovidijus Vyšniauskas performing his ballad Lopšinė Mylimai (‘Lullaby For My Lover’).
That first outing resulted in the dreaded ‘nul points’ and Lithuania would sit the next four Contests out, returning in 1999 when songstress Aistė fared slightly better with her Samogitian-dialect number Strazdas (‘Blackbird’).
As of 2024, the most successful Lithuanian entry is LT United’s We Are The Winners, a tongue-in-cheek football terrace style chant that celebrated Lithuania’s ‘inevitable’ victory at the 2006 competition. It placed 6th.
After Estonia’s victory in 2001 and Latvia’s in 2002, Lithuania is the only Baltic nation yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest, though they have qualified from the Grand Final on more occasions than either of their neighbours.
