It's not every day you are greeted by Per Sundnes bearing a bunch of brightly coloured balloons to tell you that you are going to take part in Melodi Grand Prix.
That's precisely what happened to 16 year old Yaseen Asher and 15 year old Julie Maria Dahl who together have been chosen to participate in the Norwegian national selection, Melodi Grand Prix.
Yaseen thought he was on his way to the studio to record a new song, but to his and Julie's surprise they were met by presenter Per Sundnes who beared the good news.
Neither Yaseen or Julie are strangers to the limelight as both appeared in NRK's youth series AF1, which was about a dance group of four people. They have also performed in various TV events such as MGPjr, VG-Lista show and the Spellemannsprisen award ceremony. They have also won awards for their show, AF1.

Song about the 22nd of July attacks.

Yaseen and Julie will perform a song entitled Sammen (together) in Melodi Grand Prix, which is a tribute to Oslo and Norway who fell victim to dual terror attacks on the 22nd of July 2011, where 77 people were tragically killed in Oslo and on Utøya, shocking an entire nation, and the world.
"Musically the song will maybe appeal most to a young audience but the message is something everyone can relate to", said Yaseen.
Julie went on to say, "We think that the relatives and those that experienced the tragedy will feel that the song touches them especially"

Killer Queen wants to rock Melodi Grand Prix

Apart from Julie and Yaseen with their tribute song, Sammen, another artist has been announced by NRK since our last article.
Killer Queen aka Reidun Sæther is the next participant in the coming edition of Melodi Grand Prix.
She will be performing with what can only be described as a real girl power song. Not only does Reidun have the singing qualities to bring the song to life, but the team behind the song are very well known in the world of Europe's Favourite TV Show.
Ovi, Thomas G:son and Tommy Berre composed the music and lyrics, with Norwegian-Romanian Ovi coming third at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Playing With Fire in Oslo and Thomas G:son composing Sweden's entry in 2005, Invincible performed by Carola. He was also behind Guri Schanke's Ven a bailar conmigo in 2007 for Norway.
When describing the song, Reidun said, "I get to sing high and low, weak and strong. It is perfect for a vocalist that doesn't like to limit herself".

The 2012 edition of Melodi Grand Prix will take part on the 21st and 28th of January, and the 4th and 11th of February.
