Junior Eurovision 2024: What to expect in Madrid

08 November 2024 at 14:00 CET
Madrid 2024: Saturday 16 November
All you need to know about the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest before it hits your screens on Saturday 16 November.

We're off to the capital city of Spain for the latest edition of Junior Eurovision!

Spanish broadcaster RTVE is hosting the 2024 Contest, inviting viewers to join them as they broadcast the event live from the Caja Mágica in Madrid.

RTVE took over the organisation of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest after the winners of the 2023 Contest, France, handed the opportunity to another country. France had hosted Junior Eurovision twice in the past three years.

Spain accepted the invitation following Sandra Valero's second-place finish at Nice 2023 with Loviu

Loviu right back, España!

For 2024, Junior Eurovision is moving from a Sunday to a Saturday. And it's starting a couple of hours later, too. So Saturday 16 November at 18:00 CET is the date and time to mark in your diaries. That's when we'll be getting the party started! You bring the eyes, we'll bring the entertainment.

Now, onto that entertainment...

We've got 17 countries taking part, including a return to the Contest from Cyprus for the first time since 2017, and also a comeback from San Marino, after 9 years away.

'Let’s Bloom' has been chosen as the slogan and theme for this year, which references the blossoming of young artists as they take the stage and perform at the event.

That means that viewers can expect a veritable bouquet of beautiful décor inside the venue. The concept of blooming will be transferred to the Caja Mágica stage, through organic elements throughout the show.

RTVE has put together an all-star lineup of presenting talent to take us through the evenings hits and happenings.

Eurovision star and former Benidorm Fest presenter Ruth Lorenzo will be on hosting duties alongside superstar of Spanish film and television Marc Clotet. And completing the lineup we have a name that will be familiar to many Junior Eurovision fans - Melani García, who brought Spain a bronze-medal result at the Contest in 2019, with her song Marte.
