Belgium was the first country to announce their artist for Eurovision 2022, but one of the last to reveal their song. It has now been revealed that Jérémie Makiese will perform ‘Miss You’ in the Second Semi-Final on Thursday 12 May.

Last year was a whirlwind for Jérémie; his extraordinary run of success commenced with him winning the 2021 series of The Voice Belgique, with the Belgian broadcaster RTBF announcing him as the country’s Eurovision hopeful as early on in the Eurovision season as September.

That same month, Jérémie found his other great passion – football – taking off in a similarly grand style, when he signed a one-year contract to play for the Belgian football club Excelsior Virton.

Jérémie was born to Congolese parents in Antwerp, Belgium. At 6 years old he and his family (including his three brothers and sister) moved to Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, then to Dilbeek a few years later, and finally settled in Uccle. The town is a bilingual municipality found in the capital of Brussels. Jérémie learnt to speak both Dutch and French from an early age.
