Jan Smit to present the Dutch national final

Jan Smit is a well known singer but has now homed his skills further, signing a contract with Dutch broadcaster TROS right up until 2015. 

In addition to this TROS announced that Jan will be presenting the Nationaal Songfestival, where the Netherlands' entry for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen on the 26th of February. 

When discussing the appointment of Jan Smit, the director of TROS, Peter Kuipers said, "not only is he a fantastic singer, he is also a very good presenter. He has shown that he can lead big shows. Jan really fits in well at TROS and we are extremely fortunate that we have managed to keep him on for a longer period".

In other news, TROS are to release the entries taking part in the Nationaal Songfestival on the 5th of January so make sure you stay tuned for that! 

The Netherlands have not qualified for the final of the Europe's TV show since 2004 and have employed a new selection format to try and reverse those fortunes and qualify in Baku next May!
