Heading to Sweden from Israel, Eden Golan is representing her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song ‘Hurricane.’

Earlier in 2024 Tel Aviv-based Eden won her national talent competition, HaKokhav HaBa (Rising Star), and she understandably says this was her most memorable moment as a musician so far. Now she’s got her ticket to Malmö, and there are more musical memories to make. She’s following in the footsteps of Noa Kirel, who represented Israel with Unicorn in 2023 and finished in 3rd place.

Eden has got plenty of experience performing. She joined the Israeli label Session 42 when she was 18 years old and has had a string of hits including high energy pop tracks Dopamine, Ghost Town, and Let Me Blow Ya Mind. She’s also been the lead singer of a girl group, Cosmos Girls.

There’s a top team behind Hurricane, made up of Keren Peles, Avi Ohayon, and Stav Beger, who are some of Israel’s best-loved songwriters. They’ve all written popular hits, and Stav even co-wrote and produced Toy, which took Netta to victory at Eurovision 2018.

We asked Eden what she’d wish for if she found Aladdin’s lamp, but very sensibly she said she keeps her wishes secret until they come true. Could a Eurovision win be one of the three? She did tell us that if she could have a meal with anyone from history, it would be Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Whitney Houston, RAYE, and Jessie J. What a powerhouse guest list.

Eden has a 14-year-old chihuahua named Leo and he’s the love of her life. She says Leo’s lost all his teeth, so his tongue is always hanging out. And he’s got pride of place as her screensaver.

Dana International is Eden’s Eurovision hero. She won the Contest in 1998 with Diva. Eden says: “She’s a powerful songstress who isn’t afraid to break barriers in pursuit of her dreams.”

As well as being inspired by Dana International, Eden also draws her creativity from artists including Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Jessie J, RAYE, Whitney Houston, and Justin Timberlake (which is very similar to her dream dinner party guest list, except Justin just misses out on an invitation). Eden’s sound is made up of pop, soul, and R&B, and with Hurricane she gives us a big ballad.

Eden is now getting everything ready for Malmö, and says she’s looking forward to the performance and the “crazy experience”.

We asked her what she associates most with Sweden, and she said Zara Larsson, a certain flat-pack furniture company, and Eurovision. We don’t know if you’ll get to meet Zara or go furniture shopping Eden, but Eurovision is certainly in the forecast.
