Tonight the Italian Song Contest, the popular Festival di Sanremo, kicks off through their broadcaster RAI. Presenter will be Carlo Conti alongside last year's winner, Arisa, and last year's Italian hopeful at the Eurovision Song Contest, Emma. The Spanish actress Rocio Muñoz will also host.
The list of established artists ("Campioni") that participate in the 65th edition of the Italian song contest consists of 20 acts that will perform their songs during the five shows along the week.
Also eight newcomers participate in their own category Nuove Proposte while several guests -including our latest Eurovision Song Contest winner, Conchita Wurst- perform throughout the week.
First evening (Tuesday 10th February)
In the first evening of Sanremo 2015 half of the twenty participants in Campioni will perform their song, including Lara Fabian (pictured) who represented Luxembourg in Eurovision in 1988:
The eight participating newcomers Nuove Proposte will also perform in the inaugural show. Guests will be:
Second evening (Wednesday 11th February)
The second evening, the remaining Campioni will perform their songs. Among them previous Italian Eurovision entrants Nina Zilli (2012) and RAF (1987):
Also four of the newcomers will compete to get two places in their final. The guests this evening will be Biagio Antonacci and 2014 Eurovision Song Contest winner, Conchita Wurst:
Third evening (Thursday 12th February)
The third evening will be Covers Evening. The twenty participating Campioni will sing a cover of an Italian hit and the voting this evening will be based on the covers only. Among those covers, Anna Tatangelo (pictured) will sing the Italian participant at the 1966 Eurovision Song Contest, Dio come ti amo by Domenico Modugno.
The four remaining newcomers will also compete to get the last two places in their final.
Fourth evening (Friday 13th of February)
The fourth show will include the Newcomer's Final and also the elimination of four of the Campioni songs.
Fifth evening (Saturday 14th of February)
The final evening will see the Campioni Final, with the sixteen remaining candidates, the winner of which will have the right to represent Italy at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.
