Italy: a song for Nina Zilli

23 February 2012 at 18:40 CET

Italy's expectations for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest are very high. Remember that in Düsseldorf last year they came close to winning when Raphael Gualazzi and Madness Of Love placed 2nd, only behind Azerbaijan.

And they have already picked Raphael's succesor, Nina Zilli, a unique singer who comes from Piacenza in the North of Italy, and who defines herself as a music lover, with a special affection for the 60s and 70s. She already took part in the 2010 Sanremo Festival in the newcomer's section, getting the Critics Award and the Press Radio & Television Award.

This year she participated in Sanremo with the song Per Sempre which served for her to be chosen as the Italian performer for the Eurovision Song Contest. Though the song she will perform in Baku has not been picked yet.

Nina has just released her new album L'Amore È Femina (Love Is Female) and while we're anxiously waiting for the song to be selected and confirmed, there are three songs on her album we like for Italy's participation in Baku. Besides Sanremo entry we have the album title track and the album opener:

  • Per Sempre (Forever)

  • L'Amore È Femmina (Love Is Female)

  • Per Le Strade (In The Streets)

Which one will be the Italian entry at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest?
