Public broadcaster KAN has aired the selection show, ‘The Next Song For Eurovision’, during which their representative Eden Alene performed 4 potential Eurovision 2020 entries. With 282 points, 'Feker Libi' came out on top. Eden will perform the song in the second half of the first Semi-Final on 12 May.

Eden's Eurovision 2020 entry Feker Libi was co-written and produced by one of Israel's most prominent musicians, Idan Raichel, and one of Israel's top hit makers, Doron Medalie, wrote other Israeli Eurovision entries such as Toy (2018), Golden Boy (2015) and Made of Stars (2016).

Feker Libi is described as a colourful pop gem that fuses together African dance beats with an infectious middle eastern sound. The lyrics of the song are made up of 4 languages, English, Hebrew, Amharic and Arabic, and the name of the song, meaning my love in Amharic, connects with Eden's roots, having both parents originally hail from Ethiopia.

About the show

In the national song final hosted by Eurovision 2019 presenter Lucy Ayoub, 4 songs were in the running to becoming Eden’s entry: Savior in the Sound (94 points), Roots (205 points), Rakata (139 points) and Feker Libi (282).

The outcome is a combination of an online vote from the Israeli public and the votes of an expert jury.

The show was opened by Eden and the other finalists of Israel's national artist selection show. Together, they sang a medley of various Israeli Eurovision entries like Izhar Cohen and the Alphabeta's Abanibi, Nadav Guedj's Golden Boy, Dana International's Diva, Milk and Honey's Hallelujah and many more.

Israel’s Eurovision 2019 participant Kobi Marimi performed as an interval act. He gave quite the show, performing his song Home in the melody of other Israeli Eurovision entries like Hallelujah, Diva and Toy. Also performing was Shalva Band who took to the stage at Expo Tel Aviv during Eurovision 2019 as an interval act in the second Semi-Final and Idan Raichel, Eurovision 2019 interval act during the Grand Final.

This year's entry is a co-production of Tedy Productions, one of the most prominent content and production houses in the Israeli media, Kan, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation and Israel's biggest media company and aromamusic, a leading music company and record label.
