Israel: A trilingual duet with one message

07 May 2009 at 17:40 CEST

With a peace anthem in three languages - Hebrew, Arabic and English - the Israeli duo Noa and Mira Awad will try to win the hearts of the viewers of the First Semi-Final of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. Neither the background graphics nor the performance itself has changed much since the first rehearsal. The stage was set in dark blue, with the LED screens depicting a big orange rose toward the end of the song. Both singers wore black dresses and boots, and the clothes of the remaining artists on stage were black as well. Seemingly Noa and Mira had a lot of fun during the rehearsal, as they kept laughing together. They managed to further improve their vocal performance and camera work, and thus, they left a very confident impression today. In the press conference, Noa and Mira Awad were asked why their entry for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was conveying a political message. Noa answered that, ever since she had to face the murder of Yitzhak Rabin, she could not just ignore politics in her songs, so she is proud to present a song of peace.
