Germany had a marathon of a competition to decide which act to send to Eurovision 2024, with 9 songs in Das Deutsche Finale. After the results came in from an international jury and the German public, ISAAK sprinted to the finish line, with douze points from both sides of the vote. He’s got his ticket to Malmö, his bag is packed, and he’s ready to bring his song Always On The Run to the rest of Europe.

He’s already been on TV screens in his home country, after competing in X Factor Germany and winning Show Your Talent in 2021. Now, he’s taking it to the next level, by heading to the biggest song competition in the world. On your marks, get set, go!

ISAAK started out as a street musician, and that part of his journey is still in his bones. Before one Eurovision pre-party, he and his guitar cheered up a rainy Madrid with a cover of Alex Clare’s Too Close, as well as his own Eurovision entryPeople of Malmö, keep a look out for spontaneous performances in May 2024.

As a talented street performer, ISAAK has a lot of stories about places he’s performed. He says one of the weirdest places was on the roof of a burger truck.

ISAAK describes himself as a devoted husband and family man, and he’s grateful to his wife for something very particular — before he met her, he says every day was a fashion disaster. Whether that’s true or not, he’ll no doubt be looking sharp on the Eurovision stage.

In the year that ABBA celebrates their 50th anniversary of winning the Eurovision Song Contest, ISAAK will be happy to be part of the celebrations. ABBA are Eurovision royalty to this German singer.

A lot of ISAAK’s favourite songs feature stirring male vocals, like Jason Mraz’s Live High, Jamie Cullum’s Back To The Ground, and Damien Rice’s It Takes A Lot To Know A Man. When he performs on street corners, ISAAK has only a guitar and his voice, so he clearly values artists who know how to use their vocal chords too.

As he gets ready to run to Malmö, ISAAK says 3 things come to mind when he thinks of Sweden — nature (tick), good music (tick), and a crazy good meal he ate at a food festival a few years ago, which he hopes to rediscover. Let us know when you’ve tracked that one down, ISAAK.

Look out for ISAAK on upcoming episodes of the Official Eurovision Song Contest Podcast.
