Is Magdalena Tul the inspiration for Poland?

On the 1st  of May the first rehearsals for this year's Eurovision Song Contest will begin, So, this seems like the perfect time to start our preview articles about this year's stars. On Monday 14th February the Polish people decided to send Magdalena Tul as their representative to the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. The national final of Poland is known as Krajowe Eliminacje and was broadcast on prime time nationally on TVP1, as well as via satellite broadcast and in a webcast.

Ten songs took part in the final and Magdalena Tul's Jestem was decided completely by televoting to be the Polish representative for Germany, taking 44.47% of the votes.

This is some of the reactions we received when Magdalena was chosen to represent Poland.

It's a cool song. I really like it! Good luck Poland" said Radik from the Russian Federation.

"This is my favourite from this year's song contest" was the reaction of alexanyan from Armenia.

Though MaciejPl from Poland stated "I'll be very surprised if she will be in the top 5"

Magdalena Tul will have the honour to start the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Dusseldorf , performing first in the first Semi-Final on the 10th of May. Have a look at her entry below!

Who is she?

Magdalena discovered her love for music when she was 12. As a teenager she cooperated with many bands, gaining experience on stage and in the studio. In 1999 when she 19, she enrolled in a school of music in Gdansk, in classical singing.

In 2000 she moved to Warsaw where she started working as a singer and actressfor Studio Buffo, a musical theatre created by Janusz Jozefowicz and Janusz Stoklosa. She performed there amongst others as a lead singer in a musical Metro and in several musical shows.

Three years later she moved onto a new challenge and started her cooperation with another musical theatre, Roma.  She performed there in lots of musicals like Miss Saigon, Grease and Cats, In 2005 she recorded a song for the Polish version of Walt Disney's movie: The Emperor's New Groove.

The same year, Magdalena won two main awards at the International Music Festival Universe talent in Prague for The Best Singer and The Best Song. In June 2006 she won third prize at Unisong, an International Songwriting Contest in the USA.

Her first solo album The Victory Of Heart was the crowning achievement of Magdalena's hard work throughout the years until now, when she is working on new material. Her first two singles are Nie me Jej and Jestem.

Poland achieved their best result in 1994 when the finished in second place. Can Magdalena Tul go one place better with Jestem? Poland are drawn at position number one in the first Semi-Final on Tuesday 10th of  May.
