Return to open submission

For the past four years RTÉ has used the mentor system, with appointed music professionals selecting a song and an act that they thought could bring success in the contest. This brought mixed fortunes, with Jedward reaching the Grand Final, with respectable results in two successive years.  However 2013 brought a last place in the Grand Final for Ryan Dolan, and in 2014 Can-Linn (featuring Kasey Smith) missed out on qualifying for the Grand Final in Copenhagen.

Therefore RTÉ has decided to make some important changes for 2015.  Michael Kealy, Ireland's Executive Producer said " We have decided to have an open selection process for Eurosong 2015 and we want to hear from the very best songwriters and performers who believe they have what it takes to compete at the highest level in Vienna next May."

Ireland last used an open submission process in 2009 and 2010 to select their entry.

How to enter for 2015

Entries should be no more than three minutes long and should be submitted on CD or on USB key as an MP3 or WAV file to Eurosong 2015, RTÉ Entertainment, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.

The closing date for entries will be at 18:00 CET on Friday the 31st October 2014. Full terms and conditions can be found on Ireland's Eurovision website.

Ireland will compete in one of the Semi-Finals that will take place on the 19th and 21st May, 2015. As the contest approaches its 60th anniversary, Ireland are seeking a record eighth win in Europe's Favourite Tv Show, having last won the contest in 1996.
