Iceland: Gréta Salóme & Jónsi and Blár Opal qualify for the final

The quest for Iceland's entry for Baku is under way. A total of five entries were competing tonight for the two final places available. A split of 50/50 with televoting and jury decided tonight's qualifiers.

Familiar names this evening

Tonight's first semi final saw the return to the Icelandic national selection of Jónsi, who represented Iceland in the 2004 edition of Europe's Favourite TV Show, finishing in 19th place in the Final with Heaven.

The man behind Jónsi's 2004 entry, and also Eirikur Hauksson's 2007 entry Valentine Lost, Sveinn Rúnar Sigurðsson is composer of the song tonight from Íris Hólm. The lyricist for the same song is Thorunn Erna Clausen, the wife of the late Sjonni Brink. She co-wrote Coming Home, the 2011 Icelandic entry in the Eurovision Song Contest.

  • Heiða Ólafsdóttir - Við Hjartarót Mína
