Finishing 3rd in the Grand Final, 'SloMo's great result for Spain was very well received and considered long overdue by many. We take a look at some of the many highs that Chanel achieved for Spain at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

2022 saw Spain receive its best placing at the Eurovision Song Contest since 1995, when Anabel Conde finished in second place with the song Vuelve Conmigo.

SloMo is the highest scoring Spanish entry at the Eurovision Song Contest of all time, with 459 points received.

If you added up all of the points received by Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest from 2009 to 2021, it would still be below Chanel’s points tally of 459 in 2022.

SloMo gave Spain its first Top 10 finish at the Eurovision Song Contest since 2014, and its first Top 5 finish since 1995.

In 61 participations at the Eurovision Song Contest, SloMo by Chanel becomes the eighth time Spain has finished in the Top 3.

To find Spain’s previous third-place finish at the Eurovision Song Contest, we have to go all the way back to 1984, when Bravo managed a bronze medal for the country with the song Lady Lady.

Spain received at least one point from every country at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, except for host country Italy. Italy’s jury ranked SloMo in 18th place, while the Italian viewers ranked it 12th.

Prior to 2022, the last time Spain received 12 points from a jury at the Eurovision Song Contest was at the 2016 Contest, when Italy gave its 12 to Say Yay! By Barei.

For the first time in its participation history, Spain received the most sets of 12 points from the national juries (tied with the United Kingdom), with eight sets of maximum points.

Despite the third-place finish, SloMo is currently the second-most viewed Grand Final performance on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel. As of now, the performance is on over 19 million views, compared to the winning song Stefania’s 21 million views.

In just a few months, SloMo by Chanel has gone on to become Spain’s second-most streamed Eurovision Song Contest entry on Spotify. In numbers, it’s currently still behind Mocedades’ runner-up from 1973, Eres Tú.

SloMo is the first Spanish Eurovision entry to top Spain’s official singles chart since another song that incorporated high-octane choreography into its performance: Rodolfo Chikilicuatre with Baila El Chiki Chiki in 2008.

Chanel brought in the ratings at home. 6.8 million viewers on average watched in Spain, up 86% from 2021, and the Contest’s highest TV audience in Spain since 2008.

On 17 May, Chanel received a letter from King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain, congratulating her on her result and performance at the Contest.
