Due to the Interpack trade fair, which is taking place in Düsseldorf at the same time as the Semi-Finals and Final of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, the availability of hotel rooms is limited. Nevertheless, NDR and BCD Travel managed to acquire the amount of hotel rooms as required by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
NDR and BCD Travel managed to secure a sufficient number of hotel rooms at convenient rates that are significantly below market prices for the first two weeks of May.
Hotel facilities for the 43 participating delegations are spread over the centre of Düsseldorf. For national and international media, some 1,000 hotel rooms are available in the Düsseldorf region. "Unlike Moscow and even Oslo, Düsseldorf is a small city with relatively short distances. Even if a hotel seems to be located a bit remote, shuttle bus, taxi and tram distances to city center or the venue usually don't exceed 10 to15 minutes driving time. Apart from official transportation by shuttle bus, all accredited delegates, including press, will also have free public transportation by bus, tram and municipal train," an NDR spokesperson said to Eurovision.tv.
